Turkish Media Delegation Visits Fujian

From May 17 to 21, an 11-member media delegation from Turkey visited Fuzhou, Pingtan and Xiamen, accompanied by Zhang Yunfei, Counselor of the Chinese Consulate General in Istanbul. An outcome of Wang Tianming, Director General of Fujian Provincial Foreign Affairs, and his delegation’s visit to Turkey, the media delegation was in Fujian to explore the Core Area of 21st Century Maritime Silk Road and attend the Second 21st Century Maritime Silk Road Expo.

 

On the evening of May 18, Wang Tianming met with the delegation in Fuzhou. Wang gave an update on Fujian’s latest economic and social development, and hoped that friends from the media can deepen the understanding of Fujian through this visit, showcase China and Fujian to Turkish people and become a bridge for bilateral relations. He also answered their questions concerning Fujian and Turkey’s cooperation in trade, tourism, education, shipping, and freight trains as well as Fujian’s progress in poverty alleviation and ecological conservation.

 

In Fuzhou, apart from the Second 21st Century Maritime Silk Road Expo, the delegation also visited Fujian Tea Import and Export Co. Ltd, and the Three Lanes and Seven Alleys, where they had in-depth experience of Fujian’s time-honored tea culture and regional culture. In Pingtan, the journalists visited the construction site of the first road-railway bridge in China, the planning exhibition center of Pingtan, and the high-speed ferry terminal to learn about direct passenger shipping across the Strait. In Xiamen, they discussed with Xiamen Municipal Foreign Affairs Office, Xiamen ITG Holding Group Co., Ltd, International Cruise Terminal, and Xiamen University, on exchanges and cooperation in business, investment, stone, and education between Fujian and Turkey.

 

The delegation is made up of 11 Turkish mainstream media outlets, including Turkish Radio and Television Corporation, Anadolu Agency, and Bloomberg News, Turkey. Impressed by Fujian’s economic and social advancement, and the broad space and great potential for cooperation between the two sides, they pledged to use their pens and cameras to promote Turkey’s cooperation and communication with Fujian in various areas.
