Vice Governor Guo Ningning Meets with Pakistani Ambassador to China Masood Khalid

Vice Governor Guo Ningning met with Ambassador of Pakistan Masood Khalid in Fuzhou on June 4.

Guo briefed Ambassador Khalid on Fujian’s economic and social development and highlighted the deep friendship and all-weather strategic cooperative partnership forged between China and Pakistan. Pakistan is an active participant of the Belt and Road Initiative. Fujian welcomes Pakistani enterprises to take part in the China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) and many other business and trade fairs in Fujian, and is ready to expand mutually-beneficial cooperation with Pakistan in areas like investment and trade, offshore fishery, and people-to-people exchanges under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Ambassador Khalid noted the closer high-level exchanges between the two countries. He believed that the trade between Fujian and Pakistan, though still small in size, holds out great promises for further expansion given the strong complementarity between the two sides in many fields. He called for stronger cooperation on stone mining and processing, offshore fishery, and textiles and planned to host a roadshow during CIFIT this year to present Pakistan’s trade and investment opportunities.

During his two-day visit to Fuzhou, Ambassador Khalid also attended a seminar with relevant provincial departments on strengthening business and trade cooperation between Fujian and Pakistan.
