At the invitation of Fujian Province and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), a 45-member delegation comprising ambassadors, chargé d'affaires and ministers from 24 countries and international organizations visited Fuzhou, Nanping and Quanzhou from June 17 and 21, a prelude to the promotion event of MFA presenting Fujian Province in July.

On June 18, Secretary of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee Yu Weiguo and Governor Tang Dengjie met the delegation. Yu presented the eco-friendly and refreshing Fujian by underscoring its efforts to achieve coordinated economic, social and ecological progress. Fujian has pursued innovation-driven development, upgraded its economic structure, and fully implemented the strategy of building an eco-province proposed by President Xi Jinping during his tenure in Fujian, delivering both high-quality development and a beautiful environment. He invited the diplomatic envoys to attend the promotion event of Fujian Province in July and welcomed their efforts to boost the exchanges between Fujian and the rest of the world.

Malawian Ambassador to China Charles E. Namondwe thanked MFA and Fujian Province for the thoughtful arrangements on behalf of the diplomatic corps. Impressed by the vitality of Fujian’s development and the hospitality of the local people, he hoped to get a deeper understanding of the province through this visit and intensify friendly exchanges and cooperation between the two sides.

Prior to the meeting, a seminar on cooperation between Fujian Province and foreign missions was held. Over 30 enterprises covering areas such as infrastructure, trade, mining, textiles, machinery, optoelectronics, fishery, and tourism participated. Leading officials from the Provincial Development and Reform Commission, Department of Commerce, and Department of Culture and Tourism introduced Fujian’s trade and overseas investment, and progress in building the core area of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. Representatives from Fujian Construction Engineering Group and Yonghui Superstores gave presentations on their overseas investment and trade activities. Ambassadors of Bahrain, Greece, Spain, Brazil and Nigeria delivered speeches on deepening exchanges and cooperation with Fujian. After the seminar, diplomatic envoys and nearly 60 business representatives from Fujian exchanged views on facilitating cooperation on infrastructure, industrial capacity, direct sales, fishery, and tourism.

During their stay in Fujian, the envoys made tours to Quanzhou Maritime Museum, Kaiyuan Temple, Xiamei Town (the start of the Tea Road), Mount Wuyi (a world natural and cultural heritage site), and Three Lanes and Seven Alleys to get a better understanding of the history of the Maritime Silk Road and the Tea Road. They also visited companies such as Fuyao Glass, Wuyi-Star Tea Company, Anta Group (sportswear maker), and Fujian South Highway Machinery Company.

The envoys spoke highly of the tours and expressed their expectation for the promotion event in July and readiness to further promote win-win cooperation between Fujian and their countries.
