A business promotion event in Fuzhou on Sept 16 highlighted Macao's role as a platform connecting China with Portuguese- and Spanish-speaking countries, with the aim of helping companies from Fujian province expand into those markets.The event was organized by the Fujian Provincial Department of Commerce and the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM).

Luiz Jacinto, a member of the Macao IPIM Board of Directors, said Fujian and Macao have complementary industrial strengths and expressed hope for deeper cooperation to help more Fujian companies reach overseas markets through Macao.

The event showcased a range of services to help Fujian companies expand overseas, covering trade, talent, investment, and financial services. These included China-Portugal trade navigation services, Macao's talent attraction policies, overseas expansion support for small and medium-sized enterprises, and investment support from the China-Portuguese-speaking Countries Cooperation and Development Fund. Luso International Banking also introduced financial and cross-border services available in Macao.

Luiz and his delegation also visited a comprehensive service platform for Fujian companies expanding overseas to learn about its functions and one-stop services for companies expanding overseas.

The provincial commerce department said it will continue to use Macao's China-Portugal platform to help Fujian companies explore markets in Macao and Portuguese- and Spanish-speaking countries.
