The All-China Journalists Association's new media committee and The Press, a magazine published by People's Daily, jointly compiled a 2026 think tank report on new media, released in Fuzhou on Oct 9.
The report is part of the association's think tank series and has been published for seven consecutive years. The 2026 edition comprises a yearbook and a research report on China's new media.
The yearbook documents 2025 developments in new media across central and local media organizations, journalists' associations, journalism schools, national key laboratories in the media sector, and commercial communication platforms. It offers an overview of emerging practices across the sector.
The research report analyzes major issues and emerging trends through case studies, research, and theoretical analysis, and explores potential paths for change.
Together, the two volumes examine the systemic transformation of mainstream media, serving as both an annual review of the sector and a reference for future development.
More than 200 representatives attended the launch. Discussions covered improving the production and supply of high-quality content, developing new narratives for international communication, establishing effective media portfolio structures, and advancing the digital and intelligent transformation of mainstream media.
