Zhao Long, secretary of the Fujian Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, met with Botswana President Duma Boko on Oct 12 in Fuzhou, Fujian province, to discuss bilateral cooperation.
Zhao welcomed Boko and his delegation to Fujian and briefed them on the province's high-quality economic and social development.
Last year, the heads of state of China and Botswana exchanged congratulatory messages marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, opening a new chapter in their strategic partnership, Zhao said.
He added that Fujian will implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state and deepen cooperation with Botswana in healthcare, trade and investment, cultural exchanges, and sister-city ties. The province aims to help elevate friendly relations between China and Botswana to a new level.
Boko thanked Fujian for its warm hospitality and said Botswana values its longstanding friendship with the province. Botswana is willing to expand cooperation with Fujian in healthcare, trade, investment, biomedicine, and sister-city ties to deliver further results, he said.
Fan Yong, China's ambassador to Botswana, attended the meeting, along with Fujian provincial officials Wu Xielin and Wang Jinfu.
