Delegation of Government Officials from Pacific Island Countries Visits Fujian
A delegation of government officials from Pacific Island Countries visited Fuzhou, Ningde and Pingtan from December 14 to 20.
On December 17, Governor Zhao Long met with Premier Billy Veo of the Western Province of Solomon Islands in Fuzhou. He said, during the July meeting with Prime Minister of the Solomon Islands Jeremiah Manele, President Xi Jinping noted that China is ready to enhance the synergy between the Belt and Road cooperation and the development strategy of the Solomon Islands. This further points the direction for the development of bilateral relations. Zhao hoped the two sides will work together to implement the important consensus reached by leaders of both countries, take the high-quality Belt and Road cooperation as a key opportunity to strengthen sister city exchanges and business cooperation, and deepen cooperation in areas including culture, tourism, Juncao, and poverty alleviation. Premier Billy Veo expressed his hope to draw inspirations from Fujian’s experience in boosting economy and people’s well-being, and promote collaboration in areas such as infrastructure, agriculture, fishery, healthcare, and education.
The delegation attended the opening ceremony of Austronesian Culture and Art Exhibition and inauguration of Keqiutou Site Museum, held discussions with think tanks of Fujian universities, and visited demonstration sites of poverty alleviation and rural revitalization.
