Quanzhou, Fujian province, celebrated the 18th World Autism Awareness Day on April 2. The Quanzhou Autism Care and Service Promotion Association held its inaugural meeting and organized a series of autism care activities throughout the day. In addition, an online service platform for autism was launched.
Under the theme "Advancing Neurodiversity and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)", the Quanzhou Autism Care and Support Promotion Association is committed to meeting the lifelong service needs of individuals with autism. By uniting experts, compassionate individuals, special education professionals, autism parent organizations, and various sectors, the association aims to provide rehabilitation, education, employment, and other essential services to individuals with autism and their families, facilitating their integration into society.
Embracing the belief that love transcends boundaries, the association, in collaboration with international and domestic organizations, has launched the "Autism Care International Alliance". This alliance is dedicated to creating a global, cross-sector cooperation network for autism care.
During the event, Du Yue, secretary-general of the World Federation of UNESCO Associations, delivered a video message on behalf of the organization, emphasizing the commitment to advancing autism care efforts and fostering a global partnership network for the betterment of humanity.
A key highlight of the event was the unveiling of Quanzhou's first autism-themed postcard, "Home", featuring the city's ancient architecture and created by local youth with autism.
As the only prefecture-level city in Fujian designated as a pilot area for the national autism care promotion initiative, Quanzhou has made significant progress in recent years. Through innovative measures and the introduction of the "one alliance, one platform, one fund" service model for autism care nationwide, Quanzhou continues to provide warmth, instill confidence, and address challenges faced by children with autism and their families.
