Xiamen Port completed its first ship-to-ship bonded liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering for an international voyage vessel on the morning of Nov 7.

During the operation, the vessel Haiyang Shiyou 301 bunkered MSC DARIA with approximately 2,000 cubic meters of bonded LNG at Xiamen Songyu Container Terminal.

This milestone makes Xiamen Port one of the few domestic ports capable of providing bonded LNG bunkering services for international vessels.

Xiamen Port has gradually improved its green infrastructure in recent years including shore power supply and has carried out bonded biofuel oil bunkering.

The introduction of bonded LNG bunkering fills the gap in clean fuel bunkering services, strengthening the port's green service system and its appeal and capabilities for international vessels.

In the near future, Xiamen Port will focus on three key areas: facility upgrades, process optimization, and energy diversification.

In line with the port's development strategy, berths designated for LNG bunkering will be upgraded and modernized. The port will continue to streamline bonded LNG operations to improve efficiency and explore new clean fuels such as green methanol and green ammonia to establish a more diversified and open clean energy supply system.
