Egypt’s Former Prime Minister Essam Sharaf Visits Fujian
Essam Sharaf, former Prime Minister of Egypt and Chairman of the Sharaf Foundation for Sustainable Development, visited Fujian from October 26 to 30 for attending the 2nd World Conference of Sinologists.
On October 26, Governor Zhao Long met with Mr Essam Sharaf in Wuyishan City. He said, Fujian is the core area of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, and Egypt is an important hub of the ancient Silk Road. Noting the longstanding and increasingly closer ties between the two countries, he hoped that Mr Sharaf will gain a deeper understanding of Chinese civilization and Fujian culture through this visit, and help promote the practical cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between Fujian and Egypt. Mr Sharaf hoped that this trip will provide an opportunity for him to explore fine traditional Chinese culture including Zhu Xi’s Neo-Confucianism, and promote Egypt-Fujian exchanges and cooperation for win-win outcomes.
During his stay in Fujian, Mr Sharaf visited Zhu Xi Park, BRICS PartNIR Innovation Center, and Xiamen University.
