Zhou Zuyi Meets with Tasmanian Premier Jeremy Rockliff
On November 6, Secretary Zhou Zuyi met in Fuzhou with Jeremy Rockliff, Premier and Minister for Trade and Major Investment of Tasmania, Australia.
Zhou acknowledged the close exchanges between Fujian and Tasmania, underscoring Tasmania’s status as the first international sister state of Fujian Province. He also highlighted President Xi Jinping’s personal engagement in promoting Fujian-Tasmania friendly cooperation during his tenure as Fujian’s Governor. In light of the 10th anniversary of both the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between China and Australia and the Fujian-Tasmania Joint Committee for Cooperation and Development, Zhou expressed optimism about future collaboration in agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, fisheries, advanced manufacturing, science and technology, education, culture and tourism, and called for stronger people-to-people exchanges between Fujian and Tasmania to make new contributions to China-Australia relationship.
Rockliff reaffirmed the productive sister relationship between the two sides since 1981 and expressed the hope for deepening cooperation in marine ecology, aquaculture, tourism and education and strengthening the bonds between Tasmania and Fujian.
Wu Xielin, Secretary-General of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee, Wang Jinfu, Vice Governor of Fujian Province, and Timothy Kendall, Australian Consul-General in Guangzhou, also attended the meeting.
